No work life balance.
Operator (Empleado actual) - Clinton, IA - 10 febrero 2023
Evaluación destacada de Indeed
La evaluación más útil según IndeedYou either give up every weekend of your life working 12 hours shifts all weekend with weekdays off, or you work 12 days in a row and get forced into 2-3 12 hour shifts through the week on top of getting forced every other weekend. Pay is great if you don’t mind working your life away. Nepotism is abundant as it is in any work place. There’s different times for different people. Communication is lacking. Weekend Warriors get treated horribly.

The worst work place I've worked at.
Slip sheet operator (Antiguo empleado) - Crete, NE - 13 febrero 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? They preach safety is #1 but production is #1. Safety is more like#3 or #4. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Very sketchy in warehouse. No real leadership. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? No team work. Majority will make up lies to make themselves look good

Seamer Operator (Antiguo empleado) - Fort Dodge, IA - 2 julio 2022
Hot work environment. 12 days on, 2 days off. Mandatory overtime if the person ahead or behinds you calls in. It’s a very sweaty and hot position with a lot of line stoppages for various reasons. Equipment needs updated!!

Decent Enough but Nothing to Write Home About
Slipsheet Operator (Antiguo empleado) - Crete, NE - 20 mayo 2022
Compared to other companies Purina doesn't tend to micromanage employees nearly as much. This in my opinion is the biggest benefit of working here. Biggest negative is the scheduling, with a 12 day on 2 day off work schedule you can kiss your personal life goodbye. Purina is your primary home now. Management doesn't tend to communicate very often with those on the floor. This leads to frustration and grumbling with hourly employees. Heavy Union presence but I feel there is a large degree of complacency with them as well. Only really care about high seniority employees and only really look to maintain status quo. (Keep things easy for them) Recently with other companies offering more competitive wages Purina hasn't made much of an effort to increase wages or benefits.
Pros
Less micromanagement from higher ups
Contras
Little worklife balance, Stagnating Wages, Lack of Communication from Management

A lot of forced overtime. Great pay!
Pit Operator (Antiguo empleado) - Flagstaff, AZ - 26 abril 2022
Be prepared to come In 4 hours early or stay four hours past your scheduled shift. It’s volunteer based but a certain amount of spots need to be filled daily. You may skip but if someone with more overtime then yourself skips as well, you will be forced. Staying late applies to the end of your shift that day. Coming in early means your following shift will start 4 hrs prior to your scheduled time. Along with that you will often be required to put at least 8 hrs in on sat or sun. Average hours worked between 56 -60 hours a week
Pros
Paid lunches, twenty min breaks every two hours, double time from 48-56 hrs
Contras
No sick pay. You see your co workers more than your family so it’s best you get along

No work life balance and lack of real management (line managers and up)
Not an operator (Antiguo empleado) - Hartwell, GA - 5 diciembre 2021
Pretty good pay and ok benefits. Really stressful place to work. Machines run maybe 60-70% of the time and you fight the same break downs week after week with no one really trying to fix it. Upper management rarely hits the floor but is quick to drill you on why the line is down. No real communication from management unless the line is down. Maintenance is laughable in their urgency or knowledge but operators are held to a higher standard and are expected to be experts after a month or so. HR does nothing for the avg operator but will back upper management in a heartbeat. Not much human interaction with human resources. More of a management resource team. Seems most the good facilitators (Production supervisors) leave, had 4 just walk out no notice quit in last year or so. 2 more at least gave notice. HR look into why? Nope. More operators have quit than I can count. HR stopped to ask why? Nope.
Pros
Pay
Contras
Lot of overtime, no communication, poor upper management

I was proud of what I did and what I was able to accomplish
Flex Operator (Antiguo empleado) - Allentown, PA - 4 septiembre 2021
You get paid very well to work there, but don’t expect to have a life. There is no such thing as work life balance. On top of all the regular hours and weekends you must work, you’re mandated to work overtime. Expect everyone to be in your business and supervisors overlook everything.
Pros
Pays well, employee store

No life

Slip Sheet Operator (Empleado actual) - Crete, NE - 4 septiembre 2021
It’s sucks you have to work 72 hours a week just to get a day off. People run there mouth on the radio all day long just complaining about the job, or each other. Upper management does nothing cause they are scared of the union

Run! Stay away from this company
Batching Operator (Empleado actual) - Hartwell, GA - 23 julio 2021
If you enjoy being extremely understaffed and overwhelmed with new job tasks while being micromanaged then this place is for you. Management is non existent and are more worried about where you take your breaks than actually setting the employees up for success. The schedule is supposed to be 3days on 2 days off then 2 days on three days off. I can tell you they run so lean you will work 6 12 hr shifts every week doing a three person job by yourself. Not to mention mandatory meetings you’ll have to come in early for. If you do not come in for mandatory overtime you’ll be wrote up.
Pros
None
Contras
No breaks very short staffed by design

There's no work life balance because you constantly getting force to work on your days off. So you can't plan time with your family.
Operator (Antiguo empleado) - King William, VA - 30 junio 2021
You basically work a 12 hr shift rotating days offs. The machine you work on needs a lot of tweaking because they old an out of date. So be prepare to work extremely hard every time you work. The climate in the building is horrifying. If the temperature is 90 degrees outside believe me it's a 100 degree inside the warehouse. Lack of training needs to be better at training new operators. The best of the job is the benefits an pay. An to be honest as hard as you work sometimes the pay not worth it.
Pros
breaks

no air conditioning on floor

No work life balance / bad management
Operator (Antiguo empleado) - Hartwell, GA - 24 junio 2021
Worked there as an operator for 2 years. New and old management is terrible. They are lost and unorganized. If you work there, expect to always be on mandated overtime and never see your family. Your gone 12 hrs a day so when you get done with work there is no time for anything else. When HR gives you something they take something else away. The "safety staff" is completely absent since they stay in an air conditioned office and are rarely seen on the floor. The leadership at the plant is the most incompetent I've ever seen. Glad I got out of there.
Pros
Pay
Contras
Long hours / bad leadership

Horrible work and home life balance
Forlift Operator (Empleado actual) - Crete, NE - 8 junio 2021
If you accept a job a nestlie Purina and it's an hourly job tell ur spouse and kids good bye because you will NEVER! See them you will work and sleep thats about it. That's all you have time for and you don't get your full pay until you are there for a full year. If you want to work 80 hours a week this is a job for you but if that sounds like to much for you move on and find a better job. Also the HR department is the worst I have EVER dealt with and management is horrible.

If you want to make money and add stress to your life, this is the place to work. However, they always ask for more. Work life balance is non existent. And what you give is never enough. Benefits are awesome so that is a plus, as is the stability and security of a job.
